Filipino Stars, Young and Old Shine in Australia

October 2014 must be the month Filipinos will never forget in the field of arts and entertainment.


The Fiesta Kultura kicked it off at Fairfield Showground on 6 October with guests from the Western Sydney Wanderers, the Miss Philippines Australia Beauty Pageant where the coveted title was won by Miss Glyssa Perez and many performers from Australia and the Philippines including Ken Chan and Frenchie Dy who wowed the huge crowd. The Filipino Australian Artistic and Cultural Endeavour Society, Inc. (FAACES) organized the Arts and Crafts Exhibition for PASC where arts and photography works of professionals like Daisy Cumming, Frank Rovero, Norma Hennessy, Bob Reyes, Jeff Kan, up and coming artists Evelyn Zaragoza, Cebastian Diel were on display.


Albums of Van Sereno (Hey, Wait, Stay, which was produced by Luke Koteras), Tina Ranoso Bangel (Be Heard, which was co-produced with Byron Mark and Lionel Cole, nephew of Nat King Cole) and Brian Lorenz’ It’s Time were also launched this month.


In the field of musicals, we have Dex Villahermosa playing the role of Jesus, in Jesus Christ Superstar production by Willoughby Theatre Co.


Marcus Rivera, the recipient of the McDonalds’s Sydney Eisteddfod’s 2012 Counter
Tenor Award, leads the Filipino cast playing the role of Prime Minister Kralahome in the Rodgers and Hammerstein’s production of award winning THE KING and I at the Sydney Opera House.


Also in the casts are the young performers Ethan Puse playing the role of Prince Chululongkom, Kayla Puse and Santina Gella as Princesses of Siam.
Sydney Sonata Singers made it also at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall. performing as part of the Western Sydney Community Choir organized by Opera Australia. Professional Artists Anna Dowsley, Hyeseoung Kwon, Shane Lowrence and Diego Torres and the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra conducted by Simon Kenway.


Four Seasons Exhibition at Peacock Gallery, Auburn featuring Frank Rovero Albert Estanislao, Lorraine Fernandez and Maurice Fernandez (21 September to 26 October).


And MARLISA PUNZALAN winning the 2014 X FACTOR AUSTRALIA.
