  • PASSCI 30th Anniversary Celebration !!! By Linda Alvarez Barnes

    On August 15, 2015, the Philippine Australian Society for Senior Citizens, Inc.(PASSCI) , the first Incorporated Senior Group of Filipino Ethnic origin in Australia celebrated its 30th Anniversary at Merrylands RSL Club.
    Jose Relunia Sr its Founder received a Posthumous Award received by wife Maria and daughter Mrs. Calacala. Mrs Relunia received a Mother of PASSCI trophy handed by Mimi Wilson. Floro Valdez and Nancy Casaol both PASSCI Co-Founders received awards from past presidents Virgie Pineda and Normi Stewards. PASSCI was formed to look after the welfare of the ELDERLY.
    Gracing the occasion are: Rachel Calisin, Arts & Culture representative from the Philippine Consulate. Dr. Rafael Ibanez on the piano, played “Interlude”. Lolita Farmer OAM emceed the event and officiated oathtaking of new members.
    Cora Paras, Pres. of Fil-Oz Liverpool & District w/ Cora Bojarski of NSW Cancer Council, Fil-Oz Dance Group danced La Jota Pangasinana, SAFSI Pres. Viring Atienza & Mr. Ramon Rodil rendered 2 romantic love songs.
    PCC Pres. Evelyn Beed, gave a congratulatory speech.
    Mr & Mrs. Lastica took a lot of photos and Sol Lapalma represented their organization. Prima West To
    and company occupied a jolly table w/ Boy Elvis Tagnipez. Mimi Wilson & Perla Pimentel were in-charge of the choir table.
    Emma Braceros & her La Islas Filipinas dancers’ Pandanggo sa Pag-ibig
    combination of Ilaw & Oasioas danced w/ gusto. Cake by suki Benedith
    Ben & Edith Bongat. Dancing w/ the Stars line – dancing led by Lydia Cosio & Jun Guimbal.
    Gift donors were : Aguman Capampangan c/o Marivic Manalo, Lita Castor,
    Rolly & Fely Esturninos, Mimi Wilson , Lyn Alvarez & Mr & Mrs George
    Calata, & Jasmin Webster.
    PASSCI with its humble beginning was lucky to have members who are now leading other Senior Organization such as AGAPI, SAFSI, PASSoC formely Filipino Forum & SONATA. All around Photographer Nards Purisima. We are all sisters/brothers in Mission to Love the Elderly.
